The Influence of Influencers
The Influence of Influencers
Marketing is the exchange process between businesses and customers and as we are approaching the digital era with ‘generation Z’ becoming more engaged. Online brands have changed the way a product or service is promoted, due to the change in consumer demands and keeping up with the times. Social media has a huge, positive impact for all businesses to reach a wider audience globally. Social media is not just used for posting pictures, seeing what your friends are up to and watching influencers videos on the latest products, social media can help organisations create an online presence aiming towards their customers as there are over three million people in the UK that use social media every day.“If you make customers unhappy in the physical world, they might each tell 6 friends. If you make customers unhappy on the Internet, they can each tell 6,000 friends”(Jeff Bezos, CEO at Amazon.com).
There are various social media platforms and the increase of businesses having an online presence has increased over these past few years as consumers have turned digital and technology has improved. Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook are the most popular types of social media and most well established organisations have at least one platform to promote their product or service on. There is a great advantage for having an online platform for businesses as they can directly interact with their target audience with help from cookies and other analytics.
Influencers on social media, especially Instagram are used to help businesses promote their product or service as they already have a high amount of followers. For example Molly-Mae, with 6.7 million followers on instagram and a former love island contestant and youtube creator is one of the UKs favorites public figures, especially towards her younger targeted audience and fans. Molly Mae markets herself and the brands extremely well by promoting them on her story and also creating instagram reels, she has teamed up with the fast fashion brand Pretty Little thing and now the creative director. This has then promoted the fashion brand further by exposing it to her own followers as she promotes her designs.
